These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Thompson Electric website and your engagement of our electrical services. By using our website or hiring us to perform work, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully.
1 Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the Thompson Electric website at any URL associated with our business, submitting a quote request, scheduling service, or engaging Thompson Electric to perform any electrical work, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or engage our services. These terms apply to all visitors, customers, and others who access or use our services.
2 Services
Thompson Electric is a licensed electrical contracting company operating in the State of California. We provide residential and commercial electrical services including, but not limited to, electrical repairs, panel upgrades, EV charger installation, new construction electrical work, and safety inspections.
All electrical work is performed by licensed California electricians in accordance with:
- The California Electrical Code (CEC), based on the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- All applicable local building codes and ordinances
- Requirements set by the relevant Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) regulations
We reserve the right to decline any service request at our discretion, including work that we determine to be unsafe, unpermittable, or outside the scope of our licensing.
3 Quotes & Pricing
Quotes provided via our website form, phone, text, or email are estimates based on the information available at the time. All quotes are subject to on-site verification.
Final pricing is confirmed in writing or verbally with your explicit approval prior to any work beginning. We do not perform work without your clear approval of the final price. You are under no obligation to proceed after receiving a quote.
Additional costs may arise if:
- Hidden conditions are discovered once work begins, such as deteriorated wiring behind walls
- The scope of work changes at your request
- Additional materials or labor are required due to unforeseen conditions
- Permit fees or utility coordination costs exceed initial estimates
In all such cases, we will notify you of any additional costs before proceeding and obtain your approval.
4 Scheduling & Cancellation
Appointments are scheduled based on availability. We will confirm your appointment by phone or text prior to the scheduled date. While we make every effort to arrive on time, unforeseen circumstances such as weather, prior job overruns, or emergencies may occasionally cause delays. We will notify you as soon as possible if this occurs.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance by calling or texting (760) 470-3296. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a cancellation fee at our discretion, particularly for large or multi-day projects where materials were pre-ordered on your behalf.
5 Payment
Payment is due upon completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing for larger projects. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. For larger projects, a deposit may be required before work begins to cover materials. This will be discussed and agreed upon during the quoting process.
Returned checks will incur a $35 returned check fee. Invoices not paid within 30 days of the due date may be subject to a late payment charge of 1.5% per month on the outstanding balance. Thompson Electric reserves the right to pursue collection of unpaid balances through all available legal means.
6 Warranty
Thompson Electric provides a 6-month workmanship warranty on all completed electrical work. This warranty covers defects in workmanship directly attributable to our installation or repair work.
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, or unauthorized modification of our work
- Damage caused by third parties, including other contractors, homeowners, or tenants
- Pre-existing conditions or defects unrelated to our specific scope of work
- Acts of God, natural disasters, power surges, or utility company issues
- Normal wear and tear on components over time
- Manufacturer defects in parts or materials, which are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty
To make a warranty claim, contact us within the 6-month warranty period by calling (760) 470-3296. We will schedule a return visit to assess and correct any warranted defect at no charge to you.
7 Permits & Inspections
Many electrical projects in California require permits and inspections from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction. When a permit is required, Thompson Electric will inform you of this requirement during the quoting process.
Permit fees are the responsibility of the customer and will be itemized clearly in your quote. Thompson Electric will apply for and manage all required permits and coordinate inspections on your behalf as part of the project scope.
Work that requires a permit but is performed without one may result in fines, required removal and replacement at the homeowner’s expense, and difficulties with insurance claims or property sales. We strongly advise against requesting that permitted work be done without the proper permits.
8 Limitation of Liability
Thompson Electric’s total liability for any claim arising from our services, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific services giving rise to the claim.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Thompson Electric shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of use, or business interruption.
Thompson Electric maintains general liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance as required by California law. Certificates of insurance are available upon request.
